OUR WASTE RECYCLING CENTRE
Our new waste-recycling centre at the heart of East London and Essex, is a cutting-edge facility with the ability to recycle 98% of waste that would otherwise end up in landfill. We are able to process large volumes of waste with our modern machinery and recycling technologies, and are fully committed to helping protect the environment for the benefit of the people, wildlife and plant life of the local area. Our recycling centre in Rainham is licensed as a waste-transfer station, and the entire operation is run by a large team of fully trained and accredited personnel. The new centre has a very thorough process.
All waste that enters the site is pre-sorted by 360 machines. Large recyclable items are initially separated from smaller items. The larger items are fed to picking-line staff who remove reusable and recyclable materials. Smaller recyclable items, mixed with inert material, are separated again in a second process that results in the production of clean inert material. This leaves the remaining smaller items to be fed back to picking-line staff to remove reusable materials again. The process ends with an air-separation chamber separating very small rubble from light non-recyclable residue.
Residue waste is shredded and exported as refuse- derived fuel, mitigating the need for excessive use of landfill sites. Indeed, we work as hard as possible to reuse all waste, with fast processing times to ensure that we are able to render all of it valuable for new uses.
